PM‑Kisan 21st Installment: What Farmers Should Know

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM‑Kisan) scheme is a flagship government initiative in India that provides direct income support to farmers. Under this program, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

To date, 20 installments have been disbursed. Now, all eyes are on the 21st installment. Here’s what is known so far:

📅 Expected Timing & Release Updates

  • The 20th installment was released on 2 August 2025 to over 9.7 crore farmers.
  • The government typically releases installments every four months, but delays have occurred in the past.
  • Various reports suggest the 21st installment could be released between October and December 2025
  • In a special measure, the government has already disbursed the 21st installment to farmers in three states affected by floods and landslides — Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Over 27 lakh farmers in these states have received ₹2,000 each, totalling more than ₹540 crore.

👥 Who Will Receive It (and Who Might Not)?

Eligible farmers will receive the payment — but several conditions must be met:

  • e-KYC / Aadhaar–Bank Linkage: Farmers must have their Aadhaar card linked to their bank account and complete the e-KYC process. If these formalities are not done, the installment may be withheld.
  • Correct account details: Mistakes in account number, IFSC, or using a closed/frozen account can lead to payment failures.
  • \Validity in beneficiary list: Only those whose names appear in the PM-Kisan beneficiary list will receive the funds.

🔍 How to Check Status of 21st Installment

Farmers can monitor their installment status via the official PM-Kisan portal:

  1. Visit pmkisan.gov.in

  2. Go to “Farmers’ Corner”

  3. Use options like Beneficiary Status, entering Aadhaar, bank account number, or mobile number

  4. If issues arise (e.g., “Not eligible”), check whether your e-KYC or linking is incomplete

Also, banks have been directed to reach out to farmers in case of incomplete or incorrect information.

⚠️ Warnings & Precautions

  • The Ministry of Agriculture has issued advisories cautioning farmers against fake messages or fraudulent claims promising earlier payments or requiring sensitive information. They advise verifying only via official channels
  • Never share OTP, bank PIN, or Aadhaar password in response to unsolicited messages or calls.
